Finger sucking and pacifier use are two bad habits which cause various problems in the mouth of a child. Some of these are the constriction of the upper jaw, open bite, and irregular ingestion. In some cases, even speech development is affected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you want to help your child quit the bad habit of the pacifier, then it would be advised for you, as parents, to gradually begin to remove it from your child. Undoubtedly, the first few days will be difficult and the child may be crying, but you have to endure. As for finger sucking, it should be discontinued, at the latest, by the age of 18-24 months. If this is not the case, the orthodontist can intervene after the age of 4 years with the use of mechanisms that help to break the habit.
